Erie, PA Partners with tip411 in Their Crime-Reduction Initiative Plan

Eire, PA Police Department (173 sworn officers) has recently partnered with tip411 to help reduce crime and increase community engagement.

Since the launch of the tip411 tool there have been 249 tips reported from not only the Byrne grant target area but all parts of the city.

This partnership provides another way for the public to reach out to law enforcement directly and anonymously about crime activity in their neighborhoods.

Alvento Chandler, the leader of the Erie crime-reduction initiative said part of the community outreach he is doing involves making people aware of tip411 and how they can pass along tips through it without picking up a phone and having someone ask the caller’s name or the caller’s name or number showing up on caller ID.

“I’ve done a lot of marketing, just informing the public and our business community partners that it is active and something the police obtain data on. Based on that data, they can refocus their efforts in certain areas where there is an increase in nefarious activity,” Chandler said.

The public can submit anonymous tips to the Erie PD by texting “ERIEPD” and the tip information to 847411. The public can also use the ERIEPD Tip mobile app, powered by tip411, to view community alerts and submit anonymous tips. The EIREPD Tip app can be downloaded for free at the iTunes and Google Play App Store.
